bug #17081 was closed due to the GNOME3 transition. The upstream bug
was closed for the same reason.
Is there a GNOME3 version of this bug report?

Interesting, I have to machines running 12.04. On one Firefox is the
Default Application for files of type "HTML document" and Chromium shows
up as a Recommended Application.
On the other, Chromium is the Default and Firefox is Recommended.
Does/should the "Default Applications" control panel
Same thing. File opens in Firefox. Some how the handler for the .html
file type didn't get set up correctly to use Chromium?
