You're right: it seems to be a matter of settings (it works quite well - except
that the result is not acceptable). Do you the same defect with different
settings (like resolution, B&W, grey,...)

Ok , now I'm under official feisty fawn from a clean install
I was believe it could be a little bug from the beta version
So i put a link to a scan
My model : HP scanjet 2200C
I have no problem under dapper , in a virtual machine with virtualbox
and the link to a scan which has been take with
Please, give us details of equipment: scanner model
Have you tried xsane? What preview do you get?
