On further thought, it sounds like Ubuntu needs to supply a 32-bit
version of libxcb.

Since the libraries exist and yet aren't being found by the dynamic
linker, it seems pretty clear that this is not an XCB bug. Sounds like
an Ubuntu packaging bug, perhaps.

I have experience the same problem. VMware will not work properly post-
update due to libxcb. This is a fairly fresh install as well (Installed
on Thursday 29 March 2007).
$ ls -l /usr/lib/libxcb*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 15 2007-03-29 09:05 /usr/lib/libxcb.so.1 ->
