Title:
lm-sensors reports incorrect temperature

After updating my laptop's BIOS to the latest version (1.80 from 1.30)
(in order to fix a problem with my brightness keys not working), it's
now working correctly, the same as it did in 10.04.
So I'm happy to have this bug closed.

I've attached my kernel log, and I will try out the 10.10 kernel when I
have a bit more time. I am running 64-bit, but I'm sure I can find the
correct package.
Cheers

Can you attach your /var/log/kern.log? Maybe there's an error message
there that could shed some light on it.
Also could you try installing the 10.10 kernel and see if booting with
that kernel makes it work? Assuming you are running 32 bit, you can
download the package here:

I tried 11.04 with a libe USB, and it wasn't working there, so I guess
the regression was between 10.10 and 11.04

This looks like a kernel regression. We will need to narrow down where
it was introduced. Could you try 11.04 and 11.10 next?

Running 10.10 with a live USB, I still get the correct reading:

k10temp-pci-00c3

Can you please boot the 10.10 livecd and verify that you still get a
correct reading there, and also run the following command and attach the
resulting file ( DSDT.gz ):
sudo cat /sys/firmware/acpi/tables/DSDT | gzip -c - > DSDT.gz

** Description changed:
The acpitz virtual device on my laptop reports an incorrect temperature.
This also leads to poor fan control (fan is either on full, or
completely off). I would expect the temperature to be similar to that
from k10temp.
