I also have this problem in 12.04 beta 2 (not sure if it happens in other versions as well). It happens on an Asus N53SV-S1827V. Suspend results in a non-responsive black screen but the laptop stays on. The only way out is by shutting the laptop down using the power button. I fixed this using the c
