I really feel like this is a pretty core piece of functionality for a
word processor. As such this should really work "out of the box" as it
were. Should this bug be filed against the installer for not providing
the appropriate localization packages to make this feature work?

myspell didn't work (was already installed), but installing hunspell-en-
ca did (that's for Canadian spelling, replace en-ca with whichever
language pack is appropriate for you, most likely en-ca, en-us. I don't
think there's a British English one for hunspell though.
Then restart LibreOffice.

Installing myspell-en-gb (for English GB) solved the problem for me.
sudo apt-get install myspell-en-gb

Sorry, correction. My bug appears to be different. Red lines do not show
up, and right clicking a word does not give you options to replace it,
but pressing F7 and clicking "yes" to the dialogue box that asks if I
want to start from the beginning does in fact run through the
incorrectly spelled wor
I can confirm this, spell check is not working for me either.
