At the time I wrote that, I was either using Unity or Unity 2D in Ubuntu
12.04. I am not experiencing this bug now in Ubuntu 12.10 with Unity,
and I cannot verify if it remains in the 12.04.

Which desktop environment are you using? Unity-2d, Unity, GNOME Shell,
Gnome fallback? This might be related to bug #946171, which has been
fixed in the meantime, so this might have also been fixed.
