I've got the same problem as Sergio, I'm using 12.04. I can launch
pidgin from the email/gwibber/chat area but when i search the unity
dash, it doesn't show up. I've i start it through the chat area, it will
launch and the icon will disappear. But if I fix it to the unity bar and
restart, he gets r
It happens with me too, and pidgin doesn't appear on desktop (it
disappears!), it is impossible to access it. I can access the
application only on the chat/email/and etc area (on the mail icon, on
top-right of the unity bar). I can't access Pidgin by alt+tab too.
I am using Ubuntu 12.04.

Pidgin's icon does not show in Unity Launcher
Problem was solved by restarting the computer. This seems to be a weird
occurrence (bug?), so I am not sure if I should mark it as "invalid".
Perhaps we should investigate why pidgin's launcher was "invisible" in
Unity Launcher until the computer was restarted.
Not everyone restarts their computer
