A fix for "The documentation should not lie about this" was included in
the patch I submitted for bug #97413 which is marked as "Fix released".
I haven't checked whether the released version actually contains all the
changes in the complex patch set I created; maintainer, could you please
confirm?

During its use. I believe I may have interrupted it with ctrl-C at some
point, or it could have gone sour without my noticing -- hadn't needed
it for a while, and only noticed today that the program would no longer
work.

Oh and of course, WIBNI it would take more care when overwriting the
file with new data. Write to a temp file, move atop the old file only if
successful?
