I read somewhere (I'm not near the AMD PC that has the problem so can't
check the internet history) that the 10.3 version had been patched
against the latest vunerbility (fixed by 11.2), where as the 11.1
version was vunerable to it.

I see, but why not use
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/installers/archive/fp_11.1.102.63_archive.zip
(Released 3/05/2012)? (There is also standalone player available.)

By the way, version 10.2.159.1 does not work with chromium-browser in

pjcherriman, and how would you download & install the security patched
10.3 version? Previously mentioned
http://archive.canonical.com/pool/partner/a/adobe-flashplugin/ provides
version 10.2.159.1 for Natty and some older releases. I suppose it is
security patched since it is still in the repositor
Oh, the same limitation as with Moonlight.

It looks like the problem is the closed source software was compiled
with SSE2 instructions which are not supported on the AMD Athton XP
processor I have, see

However the the only safe solution for the moment is to download the

Previous version works fine with the same config/machine.
Currently no better idea than uninstalling the current version (11.2.202.*) and
get an old version (11.1.102.*) from the archive:
http://archive.canonical.com/pool/partner/a/adobe-flashplugin/
eg: adobe-flashplugin_11.1.102.62-0oneiric1_i
But it seems to be driver/hardware dependent. In another computer that
runs updated 11.04 Adobe Flash works with both Firefox 11 and chromium-
browser. For what it is worth, the one with the problem uses nouveau
driver for X.
