Eagle, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com

Thanks iMac. I did the console thing and it shuts down normally. It has
been a while the screen has not frozen yet (unrelated to my experiment
of your suggestion though). If it happens again, I will post it here
with more detail. Maybe something came up with updates that fixed it...

Its not 100% repeatable, and this time I did it again to capture the
Oops via my camera (no external console) and it didn't happen AND I had
to still hit ESC to see the console (which I am pretty sure I didn't do,
as I didn't think I had to on the console which is the reason I
suggested starting wi
I can confirm this. You can flip over to a console using ALT-CTL-F1 and
then login, become root and use the "shutdown -h now" command and see
the kernel oops a la fglrx.
My setup is an HP DV7 with HD3400 seen via lspci as ATI RV620 [Mobility
Radeon HD 3400 Series]
I am uptodate with current fglr
Also affected. If a second build dump would be helpful please let me
know, with instructions on how to obtain. Radeon 6950 here, non dell
system.
