I believe they moved from using the standard Xfree driver to a specific
Synaptics driver that although has more features also has some
"issues". I have noticed that in the newer releases this is working

Yep its the same bug i guess. Since it worked fine in dapper would this
be considered a regression?

Could you please type/run the command "dmesg" from a terminal and see if
you see anything like the following:
psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio4/input0 lost sync at byte 4
If so this is a know issue and is being tracked at bug #69322

The pointer/cursor seems to have a mind of its own it jumps a few inches
- in what ever direction it wants in random intervals didnt have this
- problem in dapper. It shows it as synaptics touchpad. Im using fiesty
