After testing things out it seems like conky ${execi}, ${execpi} and
${texeci} are causing the bug whenever their update interval is greater
than current system uptime. Mainly due to the fact that other ${exec},
${execp} and ${texec} depends on the initial execution of the preceding
ones.

I think I got mine from
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/conky-all/1.8.1-5
then cd to the directory where the file downloaded and ran
sudo dpkg -i *.deb
When installed lock the version in synaptic.

Version 1.8.1-5 is no longer in the repository :-(
The interesting thing is the problem only occurs on system startup!
Whenever I start conky after everything is running, there are no problems.
