The dlink card causes the computer to freeze so i have used the inexq
card and here is the output you asked for

Thanks for the update Damon. I'll just go ahead and close this report
for now since you no longer have access to the hardware to test. If
anyone else has the same card and is able to test and confirm the issue
still exists with the 2.6.27 kernel, please feel free to reopen this
report by flipping
I actually ended up getting rid of this network card in favor of
something more stable -- sorry ... so I can't test it anymore. Maybe
someone else still has theirs around and can help.

The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.

I confirm this. It is an issue with missing firmware. If one uses
network-manager, then it is also an issue with wpa_supplicant failing.
