Since the datetime panel has moved from indicator-datetime to unity- control-center, I'm reassigning this Affects there based on Sebastien's logic in comment #8, though I agree with him that this is more an issue with the liveCD's environment than it is control-center or indicator- datetime... **

We "could" try to geolocate from ubiquity when in greeter mode but that's the only way I see us doing something like that. We already are missing a Language => Default country mapping database so doing Language => timezone would be even more problematic and almost consistently wrong. Attempting

I think the reporter means that selecting a language like Italian should also change the time zone to UTC+1. As far as I know, this was never implemented in the system, so this is a feature request. And it affects Ubiquity, not indicator-datetime. ** Changed in: indicator-datetime Status: N

Reassigning to datetime since that's what provides the control center datetime panel but that might be the wrong component, it's the liveCD probably which should set correctly its environment, though the panel could be smarter about displaying a non empty location ** Package changed: gnome-control

Actually, there is no pre-defined location depending on the language selection on the live session (Location is blank in the Time & Date settings) A solution would be to geolocate the user to set the timezone like Ubiquity does. ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undeci
