I get this error with kubuntu 10.04 and k3b.
I've tried running as root and the still get the same error.
I can't continue burning multisessions DVD-Rs that I created with the version
of k3b found in kubuntu 8.04.
I've tried burning at auto, 12x, 8x, etc.

For DVDs, I notice it happens with DVD-RW disks but not with DVD+RW
disks.

Went back and tried k3b as root and it works as advertised.
Sorry about that. I do believe that k3b should run as a regular
user and be allowed access to the CD and DVD devices if they
are not busy... IMHO, but what do I know?
