Since there are lots of bugs already about the nvidia binary drivers
defaulting to a low resolution when HorizSync/VertRefresh are not
present in xorg.conf (e.g. bug #91292 ) I shall speculatively file this
against the open source nv driver since that usually works correctly for
every one else.

The log you posted earlier was for the binary only nvidia-glx-legacy driver and
almost all the resolution problems seem to occur when using the binary only
drivers. Can you include a /var/log/Xorg.0.log from an open source nv driver
run which selected the wrong resolution (where the sync v
