Amr: Thanks a lot for testing! Sam asked me to check the bugs found via
these two links - http://is.gd/kGbNQu and http://is.gd/IUlOY4 - your
problem seems to be bug #987639, which means this fix would introduce a
regression while fixing the Shotwell drawing issue. Potentially some of

@Timo, although your PPA fixes the original bug with Shotwell, it

describing the problem.
The glitches were not present before updating from your PPA.

Sam mentioned those additional commits are not necessarily needed.
Firstly they fix "in theory" regressions, not clearly identified ones.
Secondly they cannot pulled in easily but parts of several commits may
need to be extracted manually in order to get them.
Therefore I've now built a package wi
Some more details on this. The fix was committed to the branch that
eventually became compiz/0.9.8 branch, so it was never applied to
precise's branch 0.9.7.
The patch fixing the issue is http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~compiz-

I believe this may be incorrectly added to 0.9.7.10 NEWS? At least I
didn't find the commit mentioning this bug, and I still have the problem
at least on precise with the same app I've always had it - Shotwell.

This fix was part of the famous "work" branch. We're still polishing the
regressions that the work branch introduced in r3110:

So can't backport the fix to precise till at least those regressions are

The issue should be fixed in quantal, closing that part, ideally we
would need to fix that in precise as well but the changes there are non
trivial and it will be hard to SRU, maybe the specific issue described
