I think the vdccm packaged in synce-kde is too old or something. When I
manually overwrite the vdccm binary on my /usr/bin with the one from
this package, vdccm works.

I see it too. I am with the first Gutsy Beta and I have just installed
synce-kde. The synce-kde mentions that it uses the vdcc daemon and well,
I thought I should also install the vdccm package.
