I have the same problem. On my Dell Mini v10, no problem, but on Dell
Lattitude D520 I have this issue.

I reinstalled whole openoffice and deleted config files from home folder
nad it started to work!

the oo-presenting-ubuntu presentation from the examples folder crashes
after starting slide show, it shows the first slide for a second then
suddenly closes.
