Ah, I get it now, when shade is FALSE it paints the whole thing with
whatever alpha is specified. (Duh!) Somehow I got the wrong idea into my
head.
I guess we should turn shade off then, saves it trying to calculate a
gradient from 1 to 1.

/apps/gwd/metacity_theme_active_shade_opacity = true
/apps/gwd/metacity_theme_opacity = 1
/apps/gwd/metacity_theme_shade_opacity = true
Note that the "shade" bools can't be set to false, else this means that
the whole thing is something like 50% opaque.
