Multiple text shadows can be defined. This was how the Salience theme
project got around a similar bug ( Bug 1025443 ), by defining four
shadows for desktop items: up, down, left and right. Blurring would be
nice, but this could be a possible temporary solution.

After some investigation, I discovered that in the current CSS
implementation in GTK is not possible to add a text-shadow with blur
(the shadow is not rendered), so we are forced to stick with the current
1px shadow in the desktop until GTK gets compatible with blurred text-
shadows.

Really, please fix this bug within Ubuntu 12.04 since that is a LTS release

Nautilus always have drawn the desktop's text that way. There are plenty
of posts in the blogosphere about this matter.
Now with Nautilus 3.2.x, the work to draw the text's shadow passed to be
a GTK theme's task, and since the themes are witten with CSS, I wonder
if the text's shadow style can be
