Malin Bruland, the next step is to fully commit bisect from kernel
2.6.38 to 2.6.39 in order to identify the last good kernel commit,
followed immediately by the first bad one. This will allow for a more
expedited analysis of the root cause of your issue. Could you please do

Malin Bruland, could you please test the latest upstream kernel
available from the very top line at the top of the page (the release
names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily
folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will
allow additional upstream
apport information

I expect the laptop to suspend when the laptop-lid is closed and to wake
up again when I open the laptop-lid and into the suspended session. But
this doesn't happen . I only face with blank screen without any
activity. I am using Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit version

i've found a dirty fix by myself, but i'm not going to publish or
disclose this fix here, because i prefer waiting for an official bug
fix; i still don't understand how such a regression could happen (in
10.10 everithing worked fine, same hardware)

Same problem here in ubuntu 12.04 on my netbook. The screen just goes

I see, so it could be different bugs. At first, the bugs looked equal. Anyhow,
in my case this happened in 11.10, and is still present in 12.04.
If it is not a duplicate I think it should be possible to split the bugs again,
hopfully

ATTENTION: this bug has been merged with the one I opened for Ubuntu
12.04 BUT it appears NOT being the same bug, as pointed out by the
following DIFFERENCES:
1) in the case I reported, i CAN resume after suspend, as expcted and correctly
2) the main releases are different (11.10 vs 12.04)
Thank
This also happens in Ubuntu 12.04
