Phillip: I realize I was not totally clear in initial description or my
follow-up comment. I only noticed this occurring on reboots. From what
I remember, logging out and back in did not exhibit this behavior.

After installing all of the updates in Precise Alpha 1, I can no longer
reproduce the behavior described above, with either open or proprietary
video drivers. I will keep my eyes on it though.

Interesting. I have the same card and don't have this issue. Are you
saying that this happens after a reboot, or just logout and log back in?
