Sorry, I said oneiric instead of precise.
I have precise on both computer : the 32bits one and the 64bits one.
It seems raw1394 works fine on the 32bits, and does not exists on the 64bits ...

I am using oneiric 64bits, and encourtered the same problem when i installed a
firewire extension card into my computuer.
I have an old PC 32bits with oneiric on, and no such problem on !

RAW1394 seems to be deprecated, but the new firewire driver firewire-
ohci does not support older hardware.
Bug #779680 suggests linking /dev/fw0 to /dev/raw1394 , but I guess
this only works if the camera is recognized by new firewire-ohci driver?
At least I do not get any fw* nodes created, nor
confirmed, this is a regression
