My Feisty is up to date too...
Sorry I did not use the tool correctly. I was trying to make a "region"
for the screen shot.
If I correctly select a window the screen shot works fine.
But if I click on the desktop background I get the attached picture...
Strange.

I can not reproduce this on an up to date Feisty system (as of March 06, 2007).
Can you explain further on:
"-> not able to see the "selection zone" with the tool.
