gnome-panel uses fake transparency, if you turn the opacity down on a
window for real the shadow opacity goes down too.

Just a comment
Things that are completely transparent should leave no shadows (just
like in real life)
It would be awesome if the shadow intensity of the panel would change
appropriately depending on how transparent/opaque you make the panel.
That would certainly be a nice touch.

Here's a screenshot, interesting enough, as I tried to edit the
preferences to uncheck the autohide, well, the picture speaks for
itself, the menu was all messed up. The screenshot menu had the same
problems, i had to disable the desktop effects to actually be able to
save the screenshot.

Could you please attach a screenshot of this issue? It would be awesome
if you could also attach a mockup of what you would like this to look
like, but thats not necessary, the screenshot is.
