I've tested it in my KDE and LXDE. And there is no difference to me.
Also this key is valid [1] in the freedesktop.org standard.
So I am going to add this option in the next upload.

you misunderstand how window switching in gnome-shell and unity are supposed to
work. The dock on the left is not a windows switching mechanism but application
specific.
You switch to an application, then you switch between it's windows. Or directly
to a window of an app by right-clicking its do

1) window with roster
2) window with chats
Do you really want to miss possibility of switching between them?

in the screenshot you can clearly see, that without StartupWMClass=psi
set in /usr/share/applications/psi-plus.desktop, psi-plus show's up as
two icons in the gnome-shell as opposed to just one as it should.
