Nick Campbell, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from

real right click! pinch to zoom work in some programs too, like images

more easy if you can keep press with one finger and drag with the other
one. I have no i
Thank you very much.

@r3gis I've written a short blog post about it here: http://nick-
campbell.co.uk/ubuntu-on-a-samsung-np700z5a. I didn't mention graphics
cards - I'm using the open source radeon drivers since I won't be
playing video games on this. If anybody finds an ubuntu-type wiki it
would be ideal, though.

Yep, you're right to point that it's just a workaround to wait til this bug
will get actually fixed.
The MacOSX way to use the touchpad is not made of good choices.
About wifi it seems to work here. I've just received my NP700Z5A today. I just
switched to precise. So I've not a lot of use behi
At least the gesture should be an interim solution. Anyhow the original right
click should also work… :)
I wonder that you all have wifi with the newer kernels!?

Hi guys,
About the right click a Mac user gave me the solution !!
In fact it's just like on MacOSX for right click :
Just tap once with two fingers.
I don't know if it changes something but I'm in two fingers scrolling

I have problem while I write with keyboard. Sometime part of my hand
goes over the touchpad and the cursor move and sometime click too,
moving the place where i'm writing. Very annoing!
With this new kernel it will be possible disable the touchpad while
writing with keyboard or don't have this kin
Fixed in kernel version 3.2.0.5. Scrolling works perfectly, in addition to the
tips from Benjamin I ran this command to make the vertical scroll region wider:
synclient RightEdge=2950
There is no right-click but this is definitely progress :D

** Description changed:
I have a Samsung NP700Z5A with an elantech touchpad. I've recently installed
Oneiric Ocelot. The touchpad is recognised as an Elantech PS/2 mouse however
it does not seem to fully integrate with synaptics - there is no touchpad
setting in the mouse config and synclien
I just tried v3.2.1-precise now and the touchpad works better there. But
still no right click. I even checked and unchecked all touchpad options
in the gnome settings but nothing helped.
PS: My wifi also doesnt work in any 3.2-kernel.

Thanks,
That has fixed the movement issues, and as you say right click doesn't
work. Also my wireless stops working, i assume this is something to do
with it using a proprietary driver?

@Jon
For better handling try:
* synclient FingerLow=3
* synclient FingerHigh=8
But right click seems to not work.

I have just purchased this laptop, and have the same problems as
described, I have tried installing the 3.2rc7, the touchpad panel then
appears in the mouse settings, but the trackpad doesn't respond
properly. It is very "heavy" and often only moves when doing a click and
drag.
Any ideas?

Same on an ASUS UX31e. Multitouch now works in 3.2-rc7 but the tap-to-
touch sensitifity has changed (taps are not always recognized as clicks
anymore) and touchpad buttons do no longer work.

Yay! I just tested v3.2-rc4-oneiric and v3.2-rc7-precise. In both
kernels the touchpad is really recognized as a touchpad and multitouch
gestures etc work *but* rightclick on the touchpad doesn't work
anymore!?

Thanks Joseph. I've tested kernel 3.2-rc2 and can confirm that the bug

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? It
will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . If possible, please test
the latest v3.2-rcN kernel (Not a kernel in the daily directory). Once
you've tested
