Todd Smith, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If

This problem affects me as well. I am running Ubuntu 12.04, with kernel
3.2.0-29-generic #46-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jul 27 17:03:23 UTC 2012 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux on an Acer 5750G with an i5-2410M processor with
2.3 GHz and Nvidia Optimus with Nvidia GeForce GT 540M.
Until grub loads, fan runs on
Tested under 3.0.0-13-generic #22-Ubuntu SMP. Has identical fan
behavior, max fan speed is never triggered while kernel is loaded.
Instead machine is severely under-clocked.
