Doing the same thing as Florin worked for me. The AddARGBGLXVisuals was
neccesary.

Changing to confirmed because it is.
This is not a compiz bug. It seems that this should be fixed by adding
the needed X configuration automatically from some script. Perhaps
/usr/sbin/nvidia-glx-config.
Please change the package if you know where it belongs.

I got it working by adding
Section "Extensions"
Option"Composite" "Enable"
EndSection
to the xorg.conf and also adding
Option"AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True"
to the "Device" section.

I can confirm the problem report. It occurs on a Dell 490N with a
"nVidia Corporation NV44 [Quadro NVS 285]" card with the proprietary
nvidia driver and two monitors.
I can see the gtk-window-decorator running and I have similar entries in
.xsession-errors:
gtk-window-decorator: Could not acquir
