Ubuntu 11.10 Parallel printer
The printer now works fine, after some Ubuntu updates was recognized and
installed properly.
If you think that I have to run the previous commands (Till Kamppeter), please
let me know.

Can you run the following commands (printer must be connected and turned
on):
ls -l /dev/lp* /dev/parport*
sudo chown lp.lp /dev/lp* /dev/parport*
ls -l /dev/lp* /dev/parport*
lpinfo -v
/usr/lib/cups/backend/parallel
sudo /usr/lib/cups/backend/parallel
sudo chmod 666 /dev/lp* /dev/parport*
ls -l /
Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.
