I believe this bug is fixed in Ubuntu 7.04. Can you try to reproduce
this issue with Ubuntu 7.04? As far as I can tell openoffice.org now
depends on styles.

Same for me, using XFCE (xubuntu-desktop).
The default Ubuntu OpenOffice package uses the -style-human icon
package, which installs a "something_images.zip" file. Under non-Gnome
desktops, OpenOffice appearantly only looks for "images.zip" under
/usr/lib/openoffice/share/config/.
