I have only blank dvds.
will it lead to obtaining same information as boot from cd ?
Also .. where can i get checksumms for official release of 11.10 ? i want to
compare it =)

Thanks for your effort with helping us to resolve this issue. Do you
have an external CD drive, if so could you burn the ISO to a CD and try
it in that, if not, don't panic :-).
Glad to see that you've found a workaround, hope you enjoy Ubuntu on
your laptop

same story with unetbootin.
Please move this bugreport to proper place.
also i found way to boot it:
when it tryes to detect cdrom or usb stick - remove stick and insert it into
another port.
all works with this dance =)

I have confirmed this due to added information, but could you try
sudo apt-get purge usb-creator
and then
sudo apt-get install usb-creator
In a terminal and then retry the creation.
If this still fails, install UNetBootIn and try it from there to test your ISO
