It started to behave properly for a while, then went back without
adjusting anything.
In the end, hashing out OnlyShowIn=GNOME;Unity; seems to have fixed the
problem, at least so far.

The last 6 lines of mine were at the top, however, commenting out
OnlyShowIn=GNOME;Unity;

Not sure this is a bug.
Looking at your custom nautilus-home.desktop -
Not too keen on putting the last 6 lines below 'X-Ayatana-Desktop-Shortcuts='
instead of above but i belive the real issue here is this line -
OnlyShowIn=GNOME;Unity;
Try removing that line completely & see if things improve

I should state there is only one alias on the dock at start up until you
use it to open up a Nautilus window, at which point the second alias
appears (without the shortlist incorporated).
This behavior seems redundant, wastes dock space, and perhaps even
counter-productive considering the shortlis
I'm using version 4.22.0-0ubuntu3 at the moment and the problems is
still manifest.
