Same problem here Ubuntu 11.10, sometimes when I disable Gtalk, modify,
select Google Talk from Protocol, and re-enable it works.

I have the same problem.
During pidgin initialization, this error comes in debug mode.
/usr/lib/purple-2/libjabber.so is not usable because the 'purple_init_plugin'
symbol could not be found. Does the plugin call the PURPLE_INIT_PLUGIN() macro?
