My problem was that I have to reconnect the reader AFTER installing the
CCID driver (libccid). The libccid udev rule file is used only on device
plug. So the access rights are updated only on the device plug after
libccid is installed.

I have the same problem with another smart card reader. In my case I
have a Gemalto GemPC Twin reader.
I don't know why this USB device is probed by MTP. I guess the udev rule
file is wrong at detecting MTP devices. I will try to debug it.

I went into a potentially related problem with a USB scanner. It is working
