Hi,
I am a newbie to ubuntu. I am experiencing the same problem as
specified in this bug. Can somebody please tell me how to ¨unmute and
raise Capture and possibly Capture Mux.¨ Is this to be done though some
command or is it through the ¨sound preferences¨? I could not find a
way in the ¨sound

Thanks! I found that hidden away... Now, everything works just fine!
However, I think it's really possible to make the sound tools in
Ubuntu Gnome a little more "understandable". I really don't think that
all the Capture Mux, PCM etc etc should be possible for a common user
to access in the Volume
You need to unmute and raise Capture and possibly Capture Mux.

Any progress on this one? We see this problem on other Dell machines
