This is the correct behaviour, when you reach the full state, the icon
change from a "charging" state to a "full" state, so you can know when
your battery is fully charged and also be aware of the state change. See
bug #824629 for a detail discussion about this

Errm... the problems back again:
- When on battery power, the indicator shows a battery icon.
- When on AC power, the indicator shows a battery icon.
Furious replugging of AC power has no effect on the icon. acpitool shows
I'm on AC all the time. My ThinkPad also gives me an audible beep each
