I have tried a few mainline kernels from 3.0.6 to 3.1.0-999. I can't
get far enough to test for this bug.
I always get the following message:
[17.609844] intel ips :00:1f.6: failed to get i915 symbols, graphics
turbo disabled
Is there a particular mainline kernel you would recommend?
-
I'd be glad to help but using nvidia drivers I seem unable to use the
mainline builds. If someone has some pointers on how to do that I can
report back.

Would it be possible for someone affected by this to test the latest
upstream kernel? It will allow additional upstream developers to
examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds
. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-
upstream-testing' tag.
Still present in 3.0.0-12.20
