Sorry, I mixed 2 different bugs, one is that the battery isn't displayed
until disconnects AC if the system boots with AC.
And this bug, it's that the "power cog" disappear after using unity a time.

Glad to know that the bug was already fixed for you. Could you open a
terminal and paste here the output of 'upower -d' when you use the
LiveCD ? Make sure you are using the latest indicator-power package
(0.7)

This bug was fixed on beta1 on my desktop PC. But anyway, when I start
LiveCD in a laptop with AC connected, the icon doesn't appear until I
disconnect AC.
