I have been experiencing the same problem since I upgraded to oneiric.
However, I did notice, that it works on a 'vanilla' user account (like
on a guest session). When I created a new account called 'testing',
Post upgrade and cannot launch the software center without experiencing
an immediate error/close.

Three reasons:
1. The retracer seemingly closed it simply because there were outdated
deps installed on the user's system, which normally would be a good
enough reason, except
2. I was still (and, seemingly, am still) experiencing the same bug, and
3. So, too, were other people - the affected coun
Toby - why exactly did you reopen this bug report after the retracer
indicated that it was Invalid?
