Unfortunately, the regression in saucy was reported in a closed bug, so
nobody noticed.
I have opened bug 1313910 to track this issue in Ubuntu 13.10.

Yes, this only happens when Evolution is installed but it's a popular
app and all upgraders from Ubuntu 11.04 will still have it installed
unless they manually remove it.
There are two items shown in the greeter which can launch Evolution:
today's date and Add Event.
I believe when Evolution is l
