Failure to resume from suspend
I've a Thinkpad E220s myself, and adding noapic to the kernel parameters
seems to help, at least with the backlight hanging issue. Perhaps you
could try that.

The display does come up, but the X server screen is corrupted maybe 70%
of the time, it looks similar to the frame tearing that happens in some
corrupted video files.
Trying to connect from the network is totally unsuccessful, and the
software based watchdog timer doesn't appear to work either.
Austin: We probably shouldn't assume your problem is caused by ACPI or
that it's at all related to the backlight issue without more evidence.
I've updated the bug description accordingly.
