I fixed it. I think it had something to do with packages I previously,
originally I had alpha 1, and have been until recently been letting it
download the updates, one of these failed. I decided to download the
alpha 3 disk image, after doing that, I have no more issues with the
system.

if you could attach a screenshot of your desktop to visualize better the
issues. Also if you could copy/paste the output of the following command
that would fantastic!
