Likewise, I managed to ruin my python3 installation.
I accidentally copied a new script onto $( which python3 ) instead of the
intended $( which 2to3 )
Your advice with about the removing python3-minimal after several attempts
finally worked. Symptoms of bad log file were the same.

can't reproduce. an apt-get remove python3.2-minimal && apt-get install
python3.2 does work
