Congratulations on the release of the final Ubuntu 11.10
That said, this regression still persists. It still will not use 3D
acceleration (compiz) under VirtualBox.
In additional I also tried "VMWare Player 4" with identical results.

This issue appears to still persist with Ubuntu 11.10beta1.
It appears to be a regression from Ubuntu 11.04 which runs compiz just fine
under the same VirtualBox 4.1.2. I also get frequent crashes from the 2D panel
now (you might want to try running it under VB).
