Unfortunately the fix had to be reverted from Oneiric as it caused a
regression. Both problems have been fixed in Ubuntu 12.04 "Precise
Pangolin".

This looks like a duplicate of bug 899598 which was reported in Oneiric.
There is a fix in kernel 3.0.0-15.25 in oneiric-proposed which has been
verified and therefore will soon make it's way to updates.

Is there anything _i_ can do here to help this along? It would be
awesome to be able to use my external screen in its native resolution
by the time oneiric arrives. I tested it there and it's not fixed in the
latest alpha.
