@ Robert Harrison - there is a fix for this bug in oneiric-proposed

I routinely see this behavior.
When I start a new unity session, the launcher usually does not auto-
reveal with the mouse for the first few minutes --- I must use the super
key. After a while, it starts mostly working but I have never figured
out what helps.
This is with a fully updated 11.10 am
Both problems are intermittent, unfortunately.
I have already tried testing with different applications open, near and
not near the launcher, to see if perhaps an application is interfering
with the launcher, but no application causes the problem to happen
