i've just tried with efty.
The problem is obviously still here.
(the test was made with an other computer and another usb key)
COULD SOMEBODY TRY TO CORRECTLY REPRODUCE THE BUG AND UPDATE THE STATUS

I'M SICK OF COMPILING KDEBASE WITHOUT THE BLOODY UNTESTED EXPERIMENTAL PATCHES.

Which part of it does reversing the patch help? Does the icon appear on
the desktop if the device is plugged in before login without the patch?
I can't reproduce this on Feisty. Could you try Feisty and see if
things have improved?
